The Rose

Korean indie rock band The Rose gave their Pinoy fans a memorable show before their impending hiatus.

It was definitely a night to remember for PH Black Rose last Saturday, August 15, as Korean band The Rose brought their ROSETOPIA tour to the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Composed of Woosung (Sammy), Dojoon (Leo), Hajoon (Dylan), and Taegyeom (Jeff), the group left a lasting memory for their fans as they performed some of their greatest hits and new tracks.

Fans felt mixed emotions and were brought to their feet as the band gave their all in performing songs such as "Back To Me," "Lifeline," "Yes," "Cosmo," and "Sorry."

Excitement built up when they sang their recent releases "Utopia" and "Blue Moon." The crowd also had the privilege of hearing "Walking on Clouds" and "Chemical," which will be part of their upcoming album "ROSE".

"I had vocal surgery, so we had to push our dates super, super far. That's why the album's not out. But you guys, you still came here with only two songs out. Thank you so much for believing and coming to the show," Woosung shared in between performances.

He added, "It's been a long time since we had this album name. When we first made the band around 10 years ago, we decided that later down the line, when we're doing our music and we feel like it's the right time, we wanted to use this album name and write the songs for this album. This is the time, and we are so stoked to present you our new album."

In the middle of the concert, Woosung also addressed their impending hiatus.

"We have been together for 10 years now. Over time, we have been so focused on making the band, being a band, that we were kind of like a racehorse, where we only see forward, and we were just running and running. We kind of forgot to look around a little bit. Because we were running all together, I think that's why we are able to be here and achieve our goals.

"However, I think after these years, it's time for us to take a small break from each other and learn and do other things that we each wanted to do. We are going to take some time to really learn again about ourselves. And then we'll come back together and show you guys what we learned."

On April 10, The Rose announced their plan to go on a break from group activities after their tour and the release of their "ROSE" album.

Part of their message read, "With our upcoming album 'ROSE' and the tour 'ROSETOPIA', we want to close this chapter with you the way it deserves. After this, we will be taking a break.
Not as an ending,
But as a moment to breathe…To grow…
And to find ourselves again, individually. So that one day, we can come back to you with even more to give. This isn't goodbye
It's just.. once in a blue moon."
