An emotionally-gripping tale is bound to take viewers to the realm of desire, deception, and destiny -- Impostora. Interviews by Jillian Q. Gatcheco. Promo photos courtesy of GMA Network. Impostora is the latest heart-moving drama that touches the unique life-story of two conjoined twins. It has a star-studded cast featuring today’s most sought-after drama queens on Philippine television - Sunshine Dizon and Iza Calzado. Sunshine and Iza worked together in Kung Mawawala Ka (2004) and portrayed majestic sisters in Encantadia (2005). After the success of their respective shows, Bakekang and Atlantika, they return to the small screen as lead stars of this compelling drama. Lives and loves intertwine stars Unlike in their previous shows, Impostora is more challenging both for Sunshine and Iza for they will be playing dual characters. Iza will play the role of twins -- the beautiful but vindictive Lara, and the ugly and weak-willed Sara. Sunshine, on the other hand, plays the twins’ wicked cousin Nessa and the faint-hearted Sara. Sunshine is delighted to have dual roles, saying that it’s every actor’s dream to play two characters at the same time. “It’s like you put yourself in a situation where you try to stretch your capability, and you have to make the two characters as different as possible…It could be the same face, but everything has to be different.” Produced by the creative team behind Bakekang, with multi-awarded director Maryo J. Delos Reyes at the helm, Impostora is about the intertwined lives and loves of the twins Sara and Lara (Iza Calzado). Says direk Maryo, “It has the appeal of comics, but it’s original material by RJ Nuevas. It’s in comics mode; it’s melodramatic -- merong tongue-in-cheek belief, but accept it the way it’s written. Don’t look for logic too much.” stars Head writer RJ Nuevas clarifies, “It’s different from Hiram na Mukha (1992) because in that movie, it’s pangit na pinaganda. Walang nag-assume ng identity ng iba. Ito, the story starts na dalawa ang Iza, tapos isa ang Sunshine. Later on, ‘yung pangit na Iza, ililipat ang mukha ni Sunshine sa kanya. So dalawa na ang Sunshine…Sa Face Off (1997) naman, si Nicolas Cage at si John Travolta, nagpalit talaga ng mukha. Ito, wala namang nagpalit ng mukha, e…This is unique talaga!” Although Sunshine has already worked with Direk Maryo in the GMA mini-series Tuwing Kapiling Ka, it is Iza’s first time to be guided by the notoriously strict director. “Yes, he’s strict, but…his being strict means you come up with a good product...There’s so much to learn from him.” Stellar cast Gelli de Belen's return to acting as the twins’ mother is a must-watch. When asked about her husband, Ariel Rivera’s view on the project, she said, “Pagdating sa ganyan, hindi na nakikalam si Ariel…I know when to tell him and when not to consult him anymore, kasi, mas maarte ako, e!...Natuwa siya (when I told him).” stars Also playing a major role is Jean Garcia. “Mas challenging kasi, you can play with your character, pag gusto mong pumaltik na lang ‘yung kamay mo, pwede mong gawin. Siyempre pag inaapi-api at mabait, hindi pwede! Tapos you can wear great outfits! Pwede kang mag-hat, kahit de-plato ang iyong shades, pwede,” she notes. Meanwhile, Mark Anthony is back on the small screen as Nicholas and Luis Alandy returns to the Kapuso network. Alfred Vargas is back on the primetime block after the success of Encantadia and I Luv NY (2006). Other members of the cast are Chanda Romero, Romnick Sarmenta, Ana Capri, Jan Marini, John Regala, and Ana Roces. It introduces StarStruck’s Ultimate Loveteam member Mart Escudero, with Charee Pineda, Jenika Garcia and real-life twin sisters Charisse and Charlotte Hermoso (from the popular laundry detergent commercial) as the young Sara and Lara. Impostora’s intense drama will also be conveyed in its theme song titled “Mapagkunwari” performed by Faith Cuneta and composed by Tata Betita. Get hooked on the riveting lives of Sara and Lara when Impostora airs beginning 4 in the Telebabad block. What are you looking forward to in Impostora?
