He may have played Superman in the past, but British actor Henry Cavill proves that he's still very much human after he confirmed that he sustained a hamstring injury while filming The Witcher's second season.
On Instagram, the 37-year-old actor gave an update on his health and explained that he hurt his hamstring before the third lockdown currently imposed in the United Kingdom.
Over the past few months, Henry has been busy filming for the popular Netflix series, and it was reported in December that he hurt his leg while working on a stunt from 20ft in the air.
He told fans, “We are in lockdown here in the UK, so I'm using my once a day outdoor exercise to go for my first jog since my hamstring injury! (More on that another time).
“It wasn't fast, and it certainly was far, but it has been a major step in my recovery, and my first step to getting back into the groove after a Christmas that may have involved more than a few cups of mulled wine, and an exceptionally fat Turkey. #Lockdown #Recovery #WorkingOffTheChristmasCheers.”
Along with the caption is a selfie from the actor, who is wearing a blue camouflage-print face mask.
According to reports last December, Henry had been wearing a safety harness while filming a scene at the height of 20ft when the injury occurred.
While the 6-foot actor did not require an ambulance, shooting for the show was said to have been delayed because he “can't walk properly” and has been told to take a rest.
A source told the UK publication The Sun, “The filming has been hit because of what happened to Henry. He was on an assault course and injured his leg.
“He just suddenly pulled up and was clearly in a lot of pain. It wasn't clear if an object had hit his leg or it was some sort of hamstring or muscle injury.
“It wasn't bad enough to need an ambulance, but it's messed up the filming schedule because he can't walk properly.”
The Witcher follows the journey of an eponymous character named Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster, and hunter, who travels across The Continent to slay monstrous beasts.
In the first season, the public saw Geralt united with Ciri after becoming her warden through the Law Of Surprise after saving her father's life before she was born.
Last year, fans were delighted that the series has resumed production after it was put on hold due to the global pandemic.
While the forthcoming season's release date is not yet known, Netflix has revealed that a limited six-part spin-off series called Blood Origin is also in the works.
