In a video she shared on her social media accounts, Thea recalled how she slipped in the bathroom and hit her head against the sink in the early hours of March 27.
"Apparently it made a loud bang because my sister rushed to the bathroom. I woke up and the floor was bloody and I could feel what I assumed was blood trickling down my face. Sinabi din sa 'kin ng sister ko that I had been unconscious for a little less than a minute," Thea shared.
The singer's sister immediately took her to the hospital emergency room where she got stitches for laceration on her forehead.
Thea also admitted that the doctors recommended that she stay in the hospital for observation but she decided against it.
She also immediately informed her management team of the accident.
"I told Sparkle immediately about what happened so that we could prepare the necessary adjustments to still make the show work. Thank you to the production team as well for being so understanding and for just making sure that I would be as comfortable as possible," she explained.
Thea Astley went on to perform "Unwrapped with Thea Astley" at Brewing Point Fisher Parkway in Quezon City.
"Admittedly, I wasn't at my 100% but I still showed up and I gave what I could. If you're wondering about the bangs, that was not a premeditated creative decision. The doctor had to shave a patch for the stitches so we improvised," she said.
Thea Astley is an alum of the second season of original singing competition The Clash where she emerged as the first runner-up.
She has also appeared on several musicals such as the Philippine staging of Rent and Once On This Island.
Thea Astley was named Best Performer in a Musical at 2024 BroadwayWorld PH Awards for her performance as Ti Moune on Once on This Island.
