
Award-winning Kapuso actress Therese Malvar graces the silver screen again after starring in the acclaimed independent film, Broken Blooms.
She headlines Jaime Morados's Ang Pagliligtas Sa Dalagang Bukid, along with Carlos Dala and Juliane Esguerra.
On her Instagram account, Therese expressed how proud she is to star in the period movie, saying it's a "magical experience to work on this project with young filmmakers who share the same love for Philippine Cinema."
Ang Pagliligtas Sa Dalagang Bukid premiered in QCinema International Film Festival 2022 as part of the QCShorts Competition and can be screened in select cinemas until November 24. The film festival runs until November 26.
Set in 1921, Ang Pagliligtas Sa Dalagang Bukid follows Joaquin as he attempts to save the film reel of the first movie he's ever seen in the midst of a studio fire.
The "Dalagang Bukid'' is referred to as the first full-feature Filipino film directed by the Father of Philippines Movies, local cinema pioneer Jose Nepomuceno, in 1919.
In Ang Pagliligtas Sa Dalagang Bukid, Therese plays Atang dela Rama's character, Angelita.
Meanwhile, Therese is also part of the forthcoming film, Pamilya Sa Dilim, where she also co-stars with Carlos Dala. Directed by Jay Altarejos, the movie also stars veteran actors Allen Dizon, Laurice Guillen, and Sunshine Cruz.
Therese is currently in Estonia where the 26th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival is being held. She is a jury member in the First Feature Competition of the said film festival.
