Palawan once again ranks high in a latest travel list.
The beautiful island of Palawan is unparalleled when it comes to natural wonders.
It's not surprising then that Palawan always ends up in most of the world's best list year in, year out.
In 2020 alone, the picturesque island was named “Best Island in the World” by renowned travel magazine, Travel + Leisure.
Palawan is also a preferred destination among celebrities, both local and international.
Now, Palawan is once again feted by the world travel website, Big 7 Travel, for its “50 Best Beaches in the World.”
The Secret Lagoon in El Nido, Palawan, clinched the fifth spot overall besting Reynisfjara Beach in Vík í Mýrdal, Iceland, Source d'Argent in Seychelles, Playa Ruinas in Quintana Roo, Mexico, Kanuhura Maldives in Lhaviyani Atoll Maldives, and the curiously named Pig Beach in Bahamas.
“El Nido is a cluster of 45 islands just off the tip of Palawan, which is famous for its Secret Lagoon,” said the short write-up.
“Swim through a hole in the limestone rocks to enter a hidden bay with crystal clear water and soft sand.”
Despite its name, the Secret Lagoon is actually not a secret destination with local and foreign tourist frequently visiting the site famous for its huge, tall cliffs towering over its turquoise waters.
The Secret Lagoon trails Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos Islands, Fig Tree Bay in Protaras, Cyprus, and Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Islands in Australia.
Occupying the top spot overall is Vaeroy Beach in Norway for its “amazing views of the coastline” and Arctic water that is “warmer than you might expect.”
