Green Pastures

Good food comes from good places indeed in this dine-in restaurant in Shangri-la.

Have you ever heard of the saying, “you are what you eat?”

The proverbial saying, which can be traced back to French lawyer Anthelme Birllat Savarin in 1826, means that to be fit and healthy, one must eat good food.

But that's not always the case in our society today.

Aside from being delicious, food must always be convenient to agree with our fast-paced lifestyles. Thus, we end up eating fast, processed, and sometimes unhealthy food.

However, one restaurant in Manila is changing the game and have sustainability and taste at its core.

Meet Green Pastures.

Located in the East Wing of Shangri-la Mall, Green Pastures take pride in creating a menu that reflects what's locally available in the market. From their meats to fish, fruits, and vegetables, they are sustainably sourced from local farms, ranches, and fisheries.

“We work hard to bring you seasonal feasts straight from our local farms. We know the story of each ingredient we serve,” it says on their website.

Think, no MSG, no canned foods, no commercially-used products. All organic and locally sourced ingredients that are not only good for you but also for the farmers and fishermen who are working hard to bring a delectable dish to your table.

“Yung mga ingredients nila are fresh and marami silang suppliers na nandito lang. What's good about this is the fact that they generate jobs for farmers,” tells Tonipet Gaba in an episode of Pop Talk.

Together with Lyn Ching, Patty Laurel, and Nico Castro, Tonipet says that their highly recommended items on the menu would have to be the restaurant's Farmhouse Salad, the 80-20 Burger, Duck You (french fries), and their selection of cheeses.

However, their menu changes frequently, depending on what's available on their partner farms.

Meanwhile, during this time of the pandemic, Green Pastures is available for deliveries only. Customers may order through the Booky app.
