South Korea's latest food trend is this frothy coffee made from instant coffee powder.

Instant coffee powder and a whole lot or arm power are the essential ingredients to make this frothy coffee, one of the latest food trends from South Korea.

The recipe calls for two tablespoons of instant black coffee powder, two tablespoons of sugar, and two tablespoons water.

Stir the mixture until it is the consistency of whipped cream by using either a spoon, a whisk or an electric hand mixer.

You can serve it by topping it with a little water then adding ice or putting it over milk. Stir and enjoy!




The recipe came to the attention of South Korean food bloggers after the coffee was featured in Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, a program where celebrities compete for their dishes to be added to the menu of a convenience store.

Actor Jung Il Woo traveled to Macau to find inspiration for his dish and dined at a roadside eatery where he first encountered the drink.

The coffee froth is said to be made by stirring the mixture of black instant coffee powder, sugar and water 400 times, earning the drink the nickname "400 coffee."

It has also been called "dalgona coffee" because it looks similar to the Korean toffee candy, and "Macau coffee" since it originated from Macau.
