Yasmien Kurdi and her husband Rey Soldevilla welcomed their second child, Raya Layla, late last month and they are truly over the moon!
The Sparkle star posted several newborn photos of Raya, along with some snaps from her delivery.
And in her latest Instagram post, Yasmien shared the cute meaning behind Raya Layla's name.
According to the celebrity mom, Raya is a combination of her name, her husband Rey's name, and their firstborn Ayesha's name.
Raya, which also means “queen” or “friend,” was likewise inspired by the Disney animated film, Raya and the Last Dragon.
Yasmien said Raya in the film has a friend water dragon, and coincidentally, her eldest, Ayesha, was born in the year of the water dragon.
Meanwhile, Yasmien explained that Layla came from the Arabic word “layl,” which means night or dark. It was also the name of her grandmother.
“The name also came from my grandma (father's side), she passed away during pandemic. [S]iya yung nag-expose sa'kin sa kitchen at a young age kasi magaling magluto 'yun,” she continued.
Yasmien added that this is also the reason why her favorite Mobile Legends hero is Layla.
Yasmien gave birth to Raya Layla on April 28, 2024 via caesarean section.
