
A four-year-old Malayan tiger at the Bronx Zoo has tested positive for COVID-19, the zoo announced on Sunday, April 5.
It is the first known case of COVID-19 in an animal in the United States or globally, according to to the United States Deparment of Agriculture's (USDA) National Veterinary Services Laboratories.
Nadia, the COVID-19 positive tiger, was reportedly exposed by an asymptomatic worker in the zoo.

According to Reuters report, the virus that causes COVID-19 is believed to have spread from animals to humans, and a handful of animals have tested positive in Hong Kong.
