If you're a millennial, a gen X baby, or even older, chances are you grew up watching the series and films about the odd, funny, lovable, and gothic fashion-loving family, the Addams Family.

And if you're also a fan of Tim Burton's beautifully dark fantasy-horror films, you're in for a treat because the renowned director had just been tapped to be the executive producer and director of a live-action Addams Family spinoff, which will be aired on Netflix.

The series, which is also Tim Burton's TV directorial debut, has been given a green light by Netflix and is slated to have an initial offering of eight episodes.

It will be co-produced by showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, producer-writers of long-running Superman prequel TV series 'Smallville.'

Some of Tim Burton's famous works are Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Dark Shadows, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland and the 2016 fantasy film Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

It's really pretty exciting to see how Tim Burton will reimagine the iconic Addams Family in his TV directorial debut. We bet even though there will be a lot of black and white clothing, it'll still be as visually appealing as his earlier works.

No release date or cast details have been announced yet but there is enough information to get Addams Family fans excited.

The Addams Family live-action spinoff will revolve around Wednesday Addams and her years as a student at Nevermore Academy.

The young adult TV series is aptly titled 'Wednesday' and will show the main character mastering her psychic ability, stop a killing spree terrorizing their town and solve the supernatural mystery that her parents Gomez and Morticia Addams got entangled in 25 years ago.

Wednesday had always been portrayed as a teen in previous adaptations, so it's interesting to see a grown-up Wednesday who's still pretty much morbid, sarcastic, and blatantly honest at the same time.

Other characters that viewers would definitely love to see in the series are Wednesday's brothers Pugsley and Pubert, their Uncle Fester, their butler Lurch, and the famous disembodied hand called 'Thing.'

The Addams Family first appeared in the cartoons created by American cartoonist Charles Addams in 1938.

The Addams Family comics have had several TV and movie adaptations, including two feature films in the 1990s where Wednesday Addams was portrayed by actress Christina Ricci.
