KZ Tandingan to Makoy Portado: “Thank you for being there when TJ and I were still trying to become who we are… we'll keep playing, for you.”
The Filipino community is mourning the reported passing of Mark “Makoy” Portado, a respected guitarist in the industry.
Makoy was also known as a music coach and a church musician who inspired and influenced many through his passion and excellence in his craft.
Following the heartbreaking news, music artists and real-life couple TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan took to social media and dedicated a heartwarming post about Makoy.
According to TJ, Makoy was one of the first people who believed in his songs and dreams.
TJ wrote in the caption, “People come and go. You stayed. Bai, Thank you for being there since Day 1. You were one of the firsts to believe in my songs, my stories, and my crazy dreams- you will always be a part of me, wherever this may take me…”
Aside from TJ, his wife KZ also penned a heartfelt message in honor of Makoy.
“Thank you for being there when TJ and I were still trying to become who we are… You made our lives better, Kuya. You really did… This goodbye is painful, but I'll take comfort in knowing that you are Home now. Rest well, Kuya Makoy. We'll take it from here and we'll keep playing, for you,” she wrote.
Other celebrities, including Sarah Geronimo, also paid tribute to Makoy.
