Following their successful team-up in Pablo Gomez' Magdusa Ka, Dennis Trillo and Katrina Halili are together again in another big project. Teaming up in “Carlo J. Caparas’ Gagambino,” Dennis and Katrina will now be seen in the primetime block of GMA. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez, Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio Another telefantasya will soon occupy the primetime block of GMA. The title role of Carlo J. Caparas'Gagambino was given to one of GMA's bankable actors, Dennis Trillo. And to add zest to the show, Katrina Halili was tapped to be one of Dennis Trillo's leading ladies. Working with Katrina "Sobrang excited na makasama ko sya ulit after Magdusa Ka dahil syempre naging okay 'yung tambalan namin doon and tinanggap sya ng mga manonood and this time kakaibang pagtatambal 'yung gagawin namin dito,” was Dennis' reaction to his second team-up with Katrina. Their chemistry in Magdusa Ka is indeed one of the main reasons why the network's executives gave this project to them. "Yes, definitely! Kasi nagwork talaga ['yung love team] so it deserves a follow up," says Ms. Lilybeth G. Rasonable, GMA AVP for Drama and Entertainment, about Dennis and Katrina's team. Though their collaboration were subjected to a lot of negative comments when Magdusa Ka was about to start airing early this year, the two have proven that the network did not make a mistake in giving them the show. There's chemistry At Gagambino's pictorial we asked Katrina about the network's decision to give them another project together. "Happy naman ako dahil syempre may mga nagsasabi sa akin na hindi bagay sa akin. Kesyo hindi kami bagay ni Dennis. Hindi naman siguro kami bibigyan ng another project na magkasama at mag-balik primetime pa. Hindi naman siguro kami pagtitiwalaan ng GMA-7 kung walang chemistry." says Katrina to iGMA. She further adds that she is ready to face the rumors and her detractors whom she is sure will be wagging their tongues again once the promotion for Gagambino starts. "Syempre hindi naman mawawala 'yun lalo na syempre at magkasama na naman kami ni Dennis 'di ba dito?" Katrina also said that she would continue to focus on her craft and would not let the issues affect her and her work. She is actually very excited about her role in Gagambino and revealed that she will also have super powers in the story. Naturally we asked her about her costume which we assume will show off her curves. "Sabi ko nga kanina ayoko nga ng labas ang tiyan, pero pagtingin ko labas na naman pala ang tiyan ko. Kasi ang hirap. Sa akin okay lang kahit cat suit eh, sexy naman. Pero no choice andito na. Kasi kahit payat ka na, kumain ka lang o uminom ka ng tubig, lumalaki ang tiyan mo. Oh well, fruits na lang ako ulit (smiles)." Aside from the classic story of Carlo J. Caparas, we are sure that the reunion of Dennis and Katrina in the primetime block will be eagerly awaited by their fans.
