Tom was nominated as Best Lead Actor in a Foreign Language Feature Film in the 6th annual Madrid International Film Festival for 'Magtanggol.'

I Heart Davao star Tom Rodriguez is nominated at the Madrid International Film Festival 2017 (Madrid IFF) as Best Lead Actor in a Foreign Language Feature Film for the indie movie, Magtanggol directed by Siegfried Sanchez.

Tom played the title role of a 40-year-old senator named Juancho Magtanggol who was a staunch supporter of Overseas Filipino Workers.
