Tom Rodriguez performed a sweet yet unusual surprise for her soon-to-wife Carla Abellana's 35th birthday today, June 12.
Carla is currently in the lock-in taping of the upcoming GMA series To Have And To Hold but, even though they are apart, Tom made it a point to express his love for his fiancé on her special day through spoken word poetry which the actor wrote.
Tom titled it "Ode To A Goddess," which romantically tells his feelings for Carla.
Read the whole poem here:
ODE TO A GODDESS
Like hidden petals tasting their first sunlight
My heart peels back new dimensions to you.
In time, I grow more in awe...and through it all I
Delight in the sight of a woman so true.
Serene to a fault, still like a calm river
A glance your way reflects all that is good.
But each beat of your heart serves more to deliver
A torrent of love for the voiceless you've cured.
I bear witness to each tear that you have shed
For those whom you could not verily save.
The sleepless nights, lost swimming in your pretty head,
And each silent battle you've selflessly braved.
Pray tell, just what are you incapable of?
Your heart and your strength seem to know no bounds.
Aphrodite descended in wrappings of love
Ending up gracing us all, breaking new grounds.
Thank you for sharing your light and life with me,
A mere mortal amidst a true goddess .
Still in disbelief, it seems I struggle to see
How your heart ever became mine to possess.
All I know is each fiber of my being
Is devoted to you, your love, your trust.
No matter the distance, we'll never stop feeling
The love we have nurtured and cultured for us.
Happy Birthday, my love, my muse, my life
My fiancé, I dare say...Soon my WIFE!
I love you.
What made it more heartwarming is when Tom produced it into a cinematic audio-visual material showing Carla's snippets from a photoshoot with instrumental background music mixed by Tom, himself.
Tom's fellow Kapuso stars Rocco Nacino, Benjamin Alves, and Max Collins commended the former's amazing work.
Tom and Carla got engaged in October 2020.
According to their interview with 24 Oras, they will tie the knot in a classic-themed wedding that will take place this year.
Tom and Carla did not give further details about their upcoming wedding but a parish in Batangas released their wedding bann publicly on social media which went viral after it stated important details like their wedding date and place of ceremony. The couple's wedding will happen on October 23 at Madre De Dios chapel in Tagaytay Midlands.
Carla immediately clarified that the release of her and Tom's wedding bann is a church requirement, explaining that it is one of the steps needed before they can proceed with their planned wedding.
Tom and Carla first worked together in GMA gay-themed 2013 drama series My Husband's Lover where they played as wife and husband. According to Carla, it's not love at first sight for her and Tom as they have worked together on several projects before they fell in love with each other.
