
Top Gun: Maverick and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run are the newest movies to join the list of delayed releases due to COVID-19.
Top Gun: Maverick is the sequel to 1986 action drama film Top Gun. Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell who meets the son of his late co-pilot Goose when he trains a new batch of pilots for a special mission.
The movie was set to be released on June 24 but was pushed back to December 23.
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run was originally slated to premiere on May 22, 2020 but was moved to July 31, 2020. The movie takes Spongebob and his best friend Patrick on a quest to bring back his pet snail Gary who was kidnapped by Poseidon.
This new Spongebob Squarepants movie is the first in the film series to be fully animated in CGI instead of the 2D animation.
Science fiction film The Tomorrow War starring Chris Pratt has also faced delays. It was originally scheduled to be released on December 25 but now remains undated.
The film centers on scientists finding a way to draft soldiers from the past to fight an alien invasion.
Other movies that have also been delayed include Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Morbius, Mulan and No Time To Die.
