Matunog na ang pangalang Topel Lee sa showbiz dahil sa angking talento ng direktor na ito. Ano pa kaya ang gusto niyang mangyari this 2009?
Topel Lee had a pretty good year in 2008. Tatlong top-rating shows ang dinirek niya sa GMA Network, where he handled top Kapuso stars Richard Gutierrez and Dennis Trillo, to name a few. Mauricio. Very successful sa ratings game ang prime time show na Gagambino, where Topel Lee is the head director of the series. Ginagawa rin niya ang horror-suspense movie na Sundo ng GMA Films, which is scheduled to come out in theaters on the first quarter of this year.
Naging prominent sa show business ang pangalang Topel Lee because of the success of the horror movie Ouija sa box-office. Pero before that, isang in-demand music video director si Topel sa bansa. He made videos for popular rock bands Bamboo (Hallelujah), Kamikazee (Doobeedoobeedoo), Hale (Kung Wala Ka Na) and 6 Cyclemind (Salamat), among others. But ngayong 2009, ano kaya ang gustong gawin ni Topel? “Gusto kong gumawa ng comedy kasi masaya ‘yun (smiles). Comedy at saka love story,” sabi ni Topel sa amin nang bumisita ang iGMA sa set ng Gagagmbino. “The best ‘yun. Eh kaso ang mga comedy kasi, like 'yung mga gag shows, 'di ba meron nang mga directors doon, eh. Hindi na yata nagpapasok ng bagong directors—konti lang kasi ang mga comedy shows natin,” dagdag pa ng young director. Sinabi din niya na although he was really active in doing music videos in the past years, hindi na muna siya gagawa ng mga ganito—hindi dahil sa ayaw niya, kundi dahil kulang siya oras. “Kasi between Gagambino tapos ‘yung Sundo, [and] weekends meron akong Scare Challenge sa ibang channel, [wala nang oras]. So iyon,” paliwanag ni Topel sa amin. Pero hindi naman dapat maga-lala ang followers ng magaling na director na ito because it looks like marami pa tayong aabangan kay Direk Topelthis year.
