There is no stopping K-pop girl group UNIS from spreading love and good vibes today with their highly anticipated “UNIS in CURIOUSland” FanCon at the New Frontier Theater.
Nonetheless, they did not forget to think about the victims of Typhoon Kristine. In fact, the group announced at a media conference on Thursday, October 24, that they will be donating a portion of their proceeds to them.
“UNIS will be donating a part of the income from [our] fan concert to those who were affected by the typhoon,” UNIS leader Hyeonju said in a statement, “We hope that there will be not much damage to those who were affected by the typhoon.”
Elisia, one of the Filipina members of UNIS, also sent a message of comfort to her fellowmen.
“Us UNIS, we're praying and hoping that you guys are safe and sound, and we hope that you guys find the strength, resilience, and hope,” she said, “[...] know that help is on their way and we hope that you guys just stay safe…”
Despite the inclement weather, UNIS is looking forward to perform for their Filipino EverAfter.
“It will the first time that we will be performing our songs from our first single album on the stage, so hopefully [they like it],” UNIS maknae Seowon said.
Meanwhile, Elisia shared that there will be exclusive stages that could only be seen on their fancon.
“We also have special stages prepared and these stages, you will only be able to see these at the event mismo, and so I think you, guys, should really look forward to that."
Kotoko added, “It was kind of hard for me because we will showing a lot of first time choreographies for these stage performances and I really want it to be really perfect, so I really [did] hard training for this fancon.”
Meanwhile, Filipina member Gehlee looked back on the group's first fan meeting in the Philippines last May and said, “[O]ur last fan meeting that we had in May, we made so many good memories and it was just such a meaningful experience, and I am confident to say that I feel like we can prove so much since then.
“Sana abangan niyo na lang po ang aming fancon,” she added.
UNIS is set to perform tonight, October 25, at the New Frontier Theater. Then, they will fly to Cebu for the second day of their fancon this Saturday, October 26, at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu.
