Ang duo ng Moymoy Palaboy is proof that talent comes in different forms. From recording their acts on a simple mobile phone and uploading them on the web, this lip syncing pair has indeed come a long way. Text and photos by Erick Mataverde. Last February 4, pumirma ng kontrata ang Moymoy Palaboy with GMA Artist Center. This actually makes them certified Kapuso talents and formally signals the beginning of the tandem’s showbiz career, not that they haven’t garnered enough popularity through their antics via the Internet. "Actually sa YouTube they discovered us and [then they] called us. That time nagwo-work ako sa office, mid-2007 'yun," kwento ni Moymoy.
"When we watched them in YouTube…pinahanap namin sila, tapos we auditioned them. 'Yun nga 'yung first show nila with us is Bubble Gang. From then on nakadagdag sila sa ratings ng Bubble Gang, tapos ngayon lumalabas sila sa SOP. Later on we can send them abroad para sa PinoyTV kasi nire-request din sila," notes Ms. Marivin Arayata, GMA Network Vice-President for Entertainment. Nagbigay ng statistics si Moymoy kung gaano ka-popular ng kanilang mga video. "Ang pinaka-marami namin[g hits] is five million, "Marimar", tapos five million din 'yung 'Wannabe,' overall nasa 39 million na siya lahat-lahat. "Sa YouTube, ang pinakamaraming [views] is Philippines, tapos 'yung puma-pangalawa 'yung Mexico. Pero last [time] chi-neck ko, mas marami 'yung Mexico. Dahil sa "Marimar" and "Volare", nakuha namin 'yung South America. May nag me-message nga ng Espanol. Hindi nga namin maintindihan 'yun!" sabi naman ni Roadfill, ang other half naman ng duo. This is testament na hindi lang sa Pilipinas nabibigyan ng exposure ang Moymoy Palaboy, kundi all over the world. And this time, mas lalo pang lalaki ang kanilang fan base. Actually, ang dalawa ay busy din ngayon sa kanilang paggawa ng sariling video album. "Ito 'yung bagong act na sinusundan ng mga kabataan and the viewing public. I think they’re a really cute act for us to have in our stable," adds Ms. Yda Henares, head of GMA Artist Center. Pati ang kanilang kasama sa Bubble Gang na si Francine Prieto ay napahanga nila sa kanilang act. "Nakakatuwa 'yung magkapatid, kasi napaka-talented nila. [At saka], akalain mo, dati ginagamit lang daw nila, cellphone lang; hindi pala siya video cam. 'Yun 'yung pinang-upload nila sa YouTube.
