Ang pagbabalik ng 'Panday' sa pelikula ay isa sa mga pinaka aabangan sa 35th MMFF. Ano nga ba ang kakaiba sa 2009 adaptation ng 'Ang Panday'?
Some of us have grown to know a Pinoy hero who fights for good and wields a sword that can kill even the most powerful evil creature in the land. Ngayong 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), GMA Films and Imus Production reinvents this epic Filipino hero to make the story of ‘Ang Panday’ even more colorful. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez Isang character na likha ni Carlo J. Caparas, Ang Panday ay isa sa mga most memorable Pinoy heroes natin. Maraming beses nang binigyang buhay ito sa pelikula at telebisyon, pero itong huling adaptation, ang MMFF entry ng GMA Films at Imus Productions, kakaibang Panday ang makikita natin. Starring Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. as the honorable Flavio na nakatadhanang wakasan ang paghahari ni Lizardo (Phillip Salvador), the movie boasts of impressive special effects and computer generated images. From Bagwis, Flavio’s dragon friend to Lizardo’s lair, mapapansing pinaghandaan ng husto ang visual effects ng pelikula. In fact maari nating i-compare ito with Hollywood movies like Lord of the Rings and Eragon. Star-studded din ang pelikula with Iza Calzado, Rhian Ramos, Geoff Eigenmann, Robert ‘Buboy’ Villar and a number of character actors and actresses to support the film. The story revolves around the origin of Panday at kung bakit galit na galit si Flavio a.k.a Ang Panday kay Lizardo. Ipinakita din dito kung paano at kung saan nanggaling ang makapangyarihang espada ni Panday. A dramatic love story and action-packed movie with hints of humor here and there, masasabing kumpleto na ang pelikula na hindi katakatakang nakakuha ng General Patronage rating mula sa MTRCB. Now showing in theaters nationwide, isa Ang Panday sa seven entries sa 35th MMFF. Kaya, huwag palampasin ang pagbabalik ng Panday sa silver screen.
