
Veteran actress Lilia Dizon--mother of actors Christopher, Pinky, and Lara Melissa de Leon--died earlier today, June 15.
She was 92 years old.
The news was confirmed by Lilia's daughter Toni Abad and granddaughter Lotlot de Leon.
On Facebook, Toni wrote, “The angels are rejoicing! Mom is now worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ not by faith, but by sight. She is now with our father God in heaven.
“No more pain, no more tears, no more suffering. She left us at exactly 8:20 this morning.”
She added, “I'm posting this with much sorrow because I will miss her. I love you, Mom! Rest in Peace in the hands of our Creator.”
Similarly, Lotlot de Leon posted a series of their family with Lilia on her Instagram and said how they will eternally remember everything about her--her smile, laughter, and beautiful voice.
Adding, “Thank you for loving us, for all the tight and warm hugs. For all the I love you's. Thank you, Oma! I have been blessed by you. I love you, we love you.
Furthermore, Christopher de Leon's wife, Sandy Andolong, said she's grateful to have Lilia as her mother-in-law.
“Thank you for loving me as your own,” she wrote.
“Thank you for being so loving, caring, and protective of your grandchildren. We will surely miss you so much. But we are comforted by the fact that you are now in a better place.
“You will forever stay in my heart. I love you so mommy!”
Days before her death, Toni posted a series of videos for her mother which were sent by family friends and fellow personalities from the showbiz industry like Vilma Santos, Tirso Cruz, Ricky Davao, and Elizabeth Orteza.
Born Claire Strauss, Lilia Dizon entered show business after the Second World War.
She first appeared in 1946 in the movie Probinsyana alongside actors Carmen Rosales and Jose Padilla Jr.
Lilia was first married to director Gil de Leon with whom she had Pinky, Christopher, and Lara Melissa, who became actors.
She later married Antonio Abad with whom she had two kids named Toni and Corazon.
