
Veteran South Korean actress Kim Min-kyung has passed away at the age of 61.
According to a Soompi report, her agency, DaHong Entertainment, confirmed the news on Tuesday, August 17.
"Kim Min-kyung passed away yesterday (August 16)," the agency stated.
The actress passed away in a Seoul hospital and her funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, August 18.
Kim Min-kyung made her acting debut in theater in 1979 and received the Best Newcomer Award in 1981 at the Korean Theater Festival. Since then, she appeared in several film, theater, and TV projects throughout her 40 years in the South Korean entertainment industry.
She would often play the role of the "long-suffering but understanding" mother.
Min-kyung's films include Someone Behind You, Tazza, Microhabitat, and Where The Truth Lies, while her television series include The Moon Embracing The Sun, The Flower in Prison, Nobody Knows, VIP, When The Camellia Blooms, A Good Supper, Mouse, and more.
Her latest films Spiritwalker and 1947 Boston are yet to be released.
The cause of her death is yet to be announced.
