Vice Ganda on her MMFF 2025 win: “Queer people can be best actors.”

Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda was recently hailed as Best Actor for her role in Call Me Mother at the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

During her acceptance speech, the It's Showtime host expressed gratitude, saying she was still on cloud nine after finally clinching the award, proudly representing the LGBTQIA+ community and mothers.

At the beginning of her speech, Vice thanked Direk Jun Robles Lana, Nadine Lustre, and her son in the film, Lucas Andalio.

Di ko alam ano sasabihin ko kasi I don't usually prepare my speeches especially, ngayon sa Film Festival kapag nano-nominate ako,” Vice said.

She revealed that she did not expect to be chosen. “But tonight maaari na,” she added.

"Salamat po nakita niyo po ako. Salamat po kinilala niyo po ako,” she thanked the jurors.

Winning the award was a proud moment for her as she represented her community.

"It is really 2025, and it is really possible, and it is real. Queer people can be best actors,” Vice said.

The host also gave appreciation to the producers, writers, and the MMFF for allowing them to tell a “wonderful story.”

Portraying her role in the film was a dream come true and also reminded her of her longtime dream of becoming a mother.

Nanay kami, magulang kami, at tahanan kami,” she said.

Vice also admitted that every year, she and her husband, Ion Perez, planned to have a child, but it never happened because of her responsibilities, work obligations, and other considerations.

At the end of her speech, she also dedicated her win to her mother and her sister. She also thanked Direk Wenn Deramas, her “first child,” Ryan Bang, and Ion.

The star-studded cast also includes Nadine, Shuvee Etrata, Mika Salamanca, Brent Manalo, River Joseph, and more.
