Vico Sotto honors World Bicycle Day by posting a throwback video of him cycling to work.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto is one with the world as it celebrated World Bicycle Day yesterday, June 3.
In the throwback video, we see the young Pasig City Mayor clad in a grey suit while bicycling to work.
He wrote in the caption, “In celebration of #WorldBicycleDay, a throwback to when I had to bike to work in a suit in the summer heat.”
Alongside the throwback post, he also injected his plans to make Pasig City bike-friendly an answer to the limited number of public transportations due to the community quarantine.
The post follows the plans of the incumbent mayor as he encourages his constituents to shift to alternative modes of transport during the quarantine.
He said that due to the absence of public transportation, now is the perfect time to push for reforms in the transport system.
In a Facebook post he said, “Sa ordinaryong panahon, wala pang 30% ng tao ang bumabiyahe gamit ang private cars, ngunit mahigit 80% ng kalsada ang sakop nila.”
With it, Vico said he plans to implement the construction of a high-priority bicycle corridor, road safety treatments, more bike racks for riders, institutionalized employee transportation loans, and information campaigns to promote bike use and road safety.
