The former National University Lady Bulldog Alyja Daphne "Jaja" Santiago shared on her Instagram page that she finally obtained her Japanese citizenship.

In a lengthy post written in Japanese today August 17, Jaja shared her thoughts about this new chapter in her life.

Part of her posts reads as translated in English, “Changing my nationality was never an easy decision. I sacrificed a lot to make my dream come true. Some people support my decision, some people don't understand it.”

Jaja played for the JT Marvelous team in the Japan V.League Division 1 and their squad bagged the silver medal in the tournament last March.

She is married to Japanese coach Taka Minowa (or Takayuki Minowa), the coach of the Akari Chargers in the PVL conference.
