'Voltes V: Legacy' director Mark Reyes warns of a scammer who is pretending to be him borrowing money.

Voltes V: Legacy director Mark Reyes joins the growing list of celebrities whose names are being used for scams involving money.

On his Instagram account, Mark shared a screen recording of an interaction that his friend Kapuso comedian Michael V sent him.

The short video shows a person posing as Mark and attempting to borrow money from Bitoy. The person even sends an account where the money can be sent.

"So I get a text from @michaelbitoy sharing with me that an unscrupulous inutile is using my name and picture to solicit money on WhatsApp . I only have one cellphone number and this is NOT it. Apologies if this morally deprived nincompoop bothered you, or will bother you. Thank you Bitoy for the heads up. #scammersbelike #scammeralert," the director wrote on Instagram.

The director reiterated that these messages are not coming from him and are not his phone numbers.

"Apologies to whoever these malicious, uneducated, morally deprived leeches will bother for monetary solicitation. And to you amoeba brained scammers . May you grow warts in the inner lining of your anus and may it bring you an eternity of itch that you can never scratch!" he wrote on another post.

While the case of Mark has been different, there has been an increase in fraudulent messages pretending to be celebrities or organizations and soliciting donations for those affected by Super Typhoon Carina.

Among those who experienced this are Kapuso stars Ysabel Ortega, Kyline Alcantara, and Max Collins, talent manager Arnold Vegafria, and the Miss World Philippines organization.

Other celebrities like Jolina Magdangal, Aubrey Miles, Mariel Padilla, and Antoinette Taus have also warned the public about people posing as them to ask for donations.
