Warner Music Philippines (WMP) officially launched Global Pinoy Music (GLOPM), a collaborative movement that strengthens its global effort to promote Filipino music.
The campaign aims to showcase Filipino talents internationally while creating opportunities for them to team up with other artists around the world. Through GLOPM, Pinoy musicians will be paired with Filipino-Global producers.
With this, WMP makes it possible for local and international musicians to learn from each other and create music that will resonate with Filipinos across the globe.
"It all starts with the why? Why are we doing this? You know when I started Warner, one of the first things we wanted to do is really give a chance to our artists to shine internationally," said WMP A&R Manager Kelly Mangahas.
"When I talk to artists, when Alex and I even meet all these different people, the first thing they ask me is how do we break into international singing? When looking at it, we really wanted to, instead of telling people 'okay we are a global company we can get you there,' we wanted to really try to figure out how to do it. And we realized that it starts with the production.
"It starts with learning. Learning the best practices from people who have done it abroad. And I think it is knowledge transfer, that's the most important thing. It's about how we gain knowledge from all the people who have done it internationally and apply it to our artists, and how we move forward and elevate Filipino music based on it," he added.
WMP Managing Director Sarah Ismail shared that GLOPM aims to amplify and elevate Filipino talents to the global community. She also believed that Filipino artists deserve global recognition and GLOPM is the perfect platform for it.
"It is our absolute honor to work with so many Filipino artists, producers, creatives with Kelley, Alex, and the Warner Philippines team. There is a deep, deep passion in each artist and there is such a great desire to share, connect, collaborate and make beautiful music, to be heard globally.
"It is inspiring to see these relationships form and their musical ambitions grow. There are so many amazing talents who deserve a platform to shine and we are excited to pave the way with GLOPM," said Sarah.
GLOPM has released its first set of releases, and one of them is Leanne & Naara. The indie-pop duo collaborated with Filipino-Canadian record producer August Rigo, who is known for his work with Justin Bieber, One Direction, Chris Brown, SHINee's Key, and BTS among many others, for the single titled "Anticipation."
