Gary V: “It's from this newly strengthened heart that I say thank you.”

One year ago, Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano bravely faced a serious health condition that could have ended his life.

On May 6, 2018, the OPM singer underwent an emergency open heart surgery after feeling a severe chest pain while performing.

Gary was found to have 95 percent blockage in a main artery to his heart, a condition sometimes called "The Widow Maker” and afflicting mostly males.

In a video uploaded on his Instagram page, Gary thanked his family, doctors and friends for all their support during this challenging point in his life.

Meanwhile, several celebrities reacted to his post even his good friend Martin Nievera, who is extremely happy that he is doing well after this ordeal.

He posted, “Happy you are well bro, actually better then well. Now let's push forward!!!”

Aside from heart surgery, the OPM icon also survived cancer scare in 2018.
