Miss World 2013 Megan Young and Kapuso actor Mikael Daez surprised the world when they announced that they are already married last January 25.

A few days later, the newly-wed couple revealed that they have been engaged to each other since 2014.

In their latest podcast, Megan and Mikael revealed the reason they kept their engagement a secret.

"At that time, we were still working and I think I was still in the middle of my love team with Andrea [Torres]," Mikael explained.

Mikael and Andrea starred in 'Ang Lihim ni Annasandra,' which aired from October 2014 to February 2015.

Meanwhile, Megan was still busy doing her Miss World duty after winning the crown in September 2013.

"We didn't need we felt the need to tell anyone yet because we knew that we weren't going to get married right away.

"So I think it was just us wanting to enjoy the moment,” Megan added.

Megan also explained that their engagement is "more of [their] commitment to each other."

Mikael explained it further saying, "It was a very personal, private, and intimate to one another.

“And when you tell other people, there's no other value to that."

"You're not more committed when you tell other people. So that's why we didn't feel the urge to tell other people."

After their engagement, Megan and Mikael talked and laid out some rules, one of which is having to keep their engagement secret, not telling anybody including their families.

"So for the very first year, we decided weren't gonna tell anybody," Mikael explained.

"So, it's a year-long commitment of us being kilig and giddy."

Megan and Mikael also explained why she decided not to have a ring that symbolizes their engagement.
