I Witness Pinoy Frontliners

Raffy Tima exclusively documents, with the help of the medical staff who took the footage themselves, how Pinoy frontliners are coping in spite of the lack of protective equipment, discrimination, and the pressure from families to quit their jobs.

This COVID-19 pandemic has put the entire world on a standstill, placing our fates on the financial support of the government and our survival on the capable hands of the medical workers otherwise known as the “frontliners.”

But these frontliners are slowly succumbing to the lethal effects of the virus. As of present, there are now hundreds of fatalities, confirmed, probable, and suspects combined.

Raffy Tima exclusively documents, with the help of the medical staff who took the footage themselves, how these frontliners are coping in spite of the lack of protective equipment, discrimination, and the pressure from families to quit their jobs.

In the Bureau of Corrections for Women in Mandaluyong, 119 People Deprived of Liberties (PDL) are now isolated in 4 areas inside the facility when one PDL was tested positive for COVID-19.

All medical staff, composed of 1 doctor and 6 nurses are ordered to stay in. But only 3 nurses are doing the rounds because the others are doing administrative duties.

The 30 PPEs available are only donated by Philippine Red Cross so they use mostly lab gowns as protection. They need to minimize the usage of covered PPEs for extreme dangerous situation that will arise in the future.

The 3 wards have only straw mattresses laid on the cement floor.

Social distancing is becoming narrower as the victims add up each day.

There are now 19 PDLs and 1 personnel confirmed with having the virus.

Meanwhile, in a private hospital in Ortigas, Pasig, and a government hospital in Manila, the frontliners are also experiencing hardships due to lack of manpower and protective equipment.

These are some of the drama mostly unseen by the public.
