
Two icons of Philippine entertainment died within hours of each other late Friday night and Saturday morning.
Theater legend Tony Mabesa passed away on October 4th at 10:20 pm. While Amalia Fuentes's death was announced early Saturday morning.
Not only a theater legend, Mabesa is also a prized movie actor. He was last seen in the multi-awarded Joel Lamangan film, “Rainbow Sunset,” opposite another showbiz pillar Eddie Garcia, who passed away last June.
Fuentes was dubbed as the “Elizabeth Taylor of the Philippines” and was considered one of the “most beautiful faces of Philippine cinema.”
Both actors are recognized to be luminaries of the local showbiz industry whose accolades and contributions have transcended for decades.

According to a Facebook post of Dexter Santos, Dulaang UP advisory council member, the wake for the veteran actor and director has started on Saturday, October 5 and will be held at Hall A, Arlington Araneta Avenue.
As for Amalia Fuentes, the public viewing has started yesterday, October 6 at the Mt. Carmel Church in New Manila, Quezon City.
