GMA-7 is once again presenting the grand story of Jesus Christ in a 10-episode television miniseries titled The Bible.
Based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, this award-winning show is a retelling of Bible stories from Genesis to Revelation. From The Creation, Noah's Ark, the Exodus, to the times of Jesus Christ.
Produced by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, The Bible was first broadcast in 2013 on American television.
"Part of what we hoped to accomplish with the series was to show the Bible is not simply a collection of unconnected stories which are often discussed and analyzed in snippets with chapter and verse numbers," Downey and Burnett wrote in The Huffington Post.
"Instead, we wanted to show how the Old Testament connects seamlessly to the New Testament. How they are one sweeping story with one grand, overriding message: God loves each one of us as if we were the only person in all the world to love."
The first episode of The Bible was seen by 13.1 million viewers, making it the number one cable entertainment telecast of the year.
The series received three Emmy Award nominations for best miniseries, and sound editing and sound mixing in 2013. In 2014, The Bible won the honor of Home Media Magazine's Best Miniseries or TV Movie on Disc for the year.It was also awarded the Epiphany Prize® for Inspiring Television and the Grace Award by MovieGuide at their 2014 MovieGuide Awards.
