After a two-year hiatus from acting, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid returns to the small screen with
Himig ng Pasko, a special Christmas musical from GMA, Dec. 13 and 20.
Asia's Songbird tells
Startalk that she is excited to be acting again.
"I realized when I was doing the special, parang naninibago ako. I haven't been doing this in a while, in two years!"
When asked why she feels that way, she turns playful. "Kasi kasama ko si Ariel Rivera!"
Regine and Ariel were an item years back, and their last project together was
Forever in My Heart which ran from 2004 to 2005.
Regine admits that there were a few awkward moments between them, especially in the beginning of their shoots.
"Meron! Nakakadiri, di ba? Nandidiri ba kayo? Di ba parang ang tatanda na namin para doon?" she says with a laugh.
"But what's nice is that we still have that chemistry, which is mind-boggling," she continues. "’Yung chemistry na ‘yan, you can't really explain why you have that."
Regine is also glad that people are still invested in their tandem. "When people see you parang kikiligin sila. ‘Yun naman ‘yung intention ng project eh, to make people kilig, to make them feel happy."
However, the kilig only remains while the cameras are rolling. "Personally, kami syempre wala na ‘yun. We both have different families already. He's happy. And I love Gelli! She's such a wonderful person, so okay na kami," she says.
Regine says she is very proud and excited about
Himig ng Pasko, whose first part airs tonight at 8:30 p.m. after
Magpakailanman.
"Sana po panoorin ninyo,
Himig ng Pasko. I will be with Ariel Rivera, Julie Anne San Jose, and Joey Paras. [It is] directed by Zig Dulay. First time to work with him, he's such a wonderful director."
