A Whitney Houston biopic is said to be in the works and is lined up to be written and co-produced by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Anthony McCarten, who is behind Bohemian Rhapsody and The Two Popes, US media reported.
McCarten is working with Clive Davis--the man who signed Houston to her first recording contract.
Houston's hit song "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" is said to be the working title of the upcoming feature film.
Documentaries have been previously made, showing the singer's rise to fame, drug addiction, and tragic death.
Two recent documentaries depicted a side of Houston not widely known to the public, in "Whitney", the singer's experience with sexual assault was revealed. While "Whitney: Can I Be Me" highlighted Houston's secret relationship with another woman.
Houston passed away in 2012 at the age of 48, drowning in her bathtub after reportedly ingesting a large amount of cocaine.
