Kapuso It Girl Gabbi Garcia is one of the millennial celebrities who promote the beauty of the morena skin. This message is very relevant today, especially in a country where women are obsessed with whitening products,
Pero regardless of that dapat hindi tayo mag-bodyshame ng mga tao," Gabbi told viewers in the recent episode of In Real Life.
Body shaming is not limited to body weight and shape but also covers the color of one's skin.
In the said episode, Gabbi talked to fellow morena millennial Ayn Bernos, who was bullied for her dark skin. Ayn developed her complexion after years of swimming and playing sports.
"Natatawag akong negra, uling...siyempre as a kid masakit 'yun pakinggan kasi gusto mo accepted ka.
After years of dealing with low self-esteem, Ayn decided to accept herself and love her own skin. By doing so, she decided to become an inspiration to young girls who are also struggling with self-acceptance.
She put up her own clothing line called Morena the Label, which celebrates brown skin. She is also a vlogger and influencer documenting different struggles of millennials. On top of that, she also has Camp Confidence Radio, a podcast about women empowerment.
