Park Bo Gum denies he was summoned for mandatory enlistment.

Rumors have been circulating online that South Korean actor Park Bo Gum is thinking of enlisting in the military very soon after completing his upcoming movie “Wonderland.”

But the news didn't fare well for Park Bo Gum's label, Blossom Entertainment, as it spoke to media outlets with an official statement that clarified that nothing has been decided yet.

It said, “It's true that Park Bo Gum does not want to delay his mandatory service, but he has not received his enlistment summon yet. There's nothing currently confirmed regarding his mandatory service.”

The rumors spread after a report from Sporbiz went viral claiming that the actor is planning on enlisting after filming “Wonderland.”

Because he was born in 1993, Park Bo Gum will be 27 (28 in Korean age) this year. However, he is not required to enlist until the end of 2021.

According to the Constitution of South Korea, male citizens between the ages of 18 and 28 are to perform compulsory military service. Exemptions are granted only to violinists, pianists, and ballet performers, but not to K-pop stars, actors, or directors. The length of one's military service depends on a number of factors but normally ranges from 21 to 24 months.

Park Bo Gum is currently filming a drama for tvN's “Record of Youth” which stars Park So Dam (Parasite). On the other hand, his film “Wonderland” stars Gong Yoo, Jung Yu Mi, Tang Wei, Suzy, and Choi Woo Shik, are scheduled to start filming in April.
