Winwyn Marquez

Winwyn Marquez called on public servants to show more empathy, urgency, and humility in responding to communities affected by the ongoing flooding in parts of the country.

Actress and beauty queen Winwyn Marquez has called out public servants over their response to communities affected by flooding in parts of the country.

On Facebook, the Kapuso actress shared her observations about some politicians' response to flood victims amid continuous rains brought by the habagat (southwest monsoon).

“Ako lang po ba, or parang may something talaga sa ibang public servants lately? The way they talk and present themselves… parang kasalanan pa ng mga tao for expecting help after nila malubog sa baha?” she wrote.

“Read the room. You're speaking to people you're supposed to serve. Hindi naman instant solution ang hinihingi 'di ba? Konting empathy, urgency, at humility lang sana.”

Winwyn urged public servants to show more respect and understanding as they work toward solutions for communities affected by flooding.

“Talk to them properly. Find solutions. Work with the people instead of making them feel like they're the problem. Public service is called service for a reason. Sakit sa brain.”

In another post, Winwyn further expressed her disappointment over the current situation in the Philippines.

“Nakakaiyak. Nakakagalit. Nakakapagod,” she said.

“Hindi dapat ganito. Walang pamilyang dapat mawalan ng mahal sa buhay dahil sa kapabayaan, incompetence, at kasakiman ng mga taong nasa posisyon at dapat naglilingkod sa taumbayan. People deserve better!!”

The beauty queen acknowledged that while nature can be unpredictable, people can still prepare for disasters through better systems and early action.

“Hindi natin kontrolado ang kalikasan, pero may mga bagay na kaya nating paghandaan at maiwasan.....kung ginagawa lang nang maayos ang trabaho. Filipinos deserve better!!!!” Winwyn highlighted.

Winwyn's posts come as other celebrities have also expressed their disappointment and frustration over the flooding in the country.

Many of them have likewise called for better solutions and projects to minimize the impact of flooding and prevent major disruptions during the rainy season.

Meanwhile, several areas have experienced flooding amid heavy rainfall associated with the southwest monsoon.
