While walking in high heels may feel like a workout, do you know that there are workout exercises out there that incorporate this shoe?

It may seem like a silly idea at first, but a few fitness reviews have mentioned that wearing high heels while working out have improved their exercise routines.

With that said, here are some benefits of working out while in high heels we've found.

Strengthen pelvic muscles

In 2008, a urologist from Italy studied 66 stiletto-strutting women and found out that wearing heels help strengthen pelvic and abdominal muscles. Because of the elevated angle of the heel, most women lean a little forward thereby tightening the abdominal muscles and improving your core.

According to the study, this action increases the ability for pelvic muscles to contract leading to easier childbirth and other problems associated with the urinary system.

Research shows that walking in high heels has a beneficial way of shaping the calves. Heels can improve muscle tone and shape as they activate the muscles more evenly.

But, be wary as a heel that's too high can have an opposite impact.

A 2010 study indicated that women who routinely wear high heels have shorter calf muscles, weakened Achilles tendon, and an increased chance of a sprained ankle or back injuries.

The maximum height for working out in heels is three inches so you could enjoy maximum benefits.

But don't forget to stretch your legs before and putting them on and also avoid wearing heels for extended periods of time as it can also put a strain to the balls of your feet.

As always, check with your doctor or health professional if this class is the right workout for you.
