She said, "I didn't really expect the ceremony to be emotional."
Yam mentioned that there was a speech given at the ceremony that particularly touched her heart.
"The judge had a speech after, and she said something that really stayed with me. That we as immigrants are strong, we are capable, and we belong here. We should never let anyone tell us otherwise. It was just really touching."
The celebrity mom disclosed that the ceremony prohibits phones and mentioned there were memories she wished to capture.
"I wish I had a phone to record everything, but sometimes you don't need a phone to record a moment, it just lives in your memory the way you want to remember it."
Now that Yam is a U.S. citizen, she recalls her first experience of moving and how she felt starting a new life in a different country.
She said, "I had flashbacks since moving here in 2021. There are days when you're just feeling really off, and yesterday was a reminder to always be grateful for everything. For the good, for the bad, for the small moments and the big milestones. It sounds really cheesy, but practicing gratitude really changes how you see life, and I just wanted to share that."
