Yasmien Kurdi

The Kapuso actress reveals she had to work at an early age to be able to continue studying.

In an interview with veteran journalist Nelson Canlas in the podcast Updated with Nelson Canlas, Kapuso actress Yasmien Kurdi unveiled the story behind her taking on numerous modeling gigs and joining the first-ever season of StarStruck at the young age of 14.

The Start-Up PH star was formerly residing in Kuwait with her Lebanese father and Filipina mother who separated when she was at the age of 12 or 13. Because of this rift, her mother decided they go home to the Philippines and stay there.

During her first year in the country, the Kapuso star revealed there were times when they couldn't pay for their water and electricity bills.

The award-winning actress then joined the first-ever season of StarStruck and the rest was history. Although there was a time when Yasmien decided to quit showbiz in order to fulfill her dream of finishing college, she, later on, realized that no matter where she goes she'll always be an actress.

It might have taken her a moment but the Start-Up PH star then on realized this is her path and this is what she wants to do with her life being an avid fan of Filipino dramas herself.
