
Yasmien Kurdi shares a friendly, empowering reminder to women amid the current controversies.
On Instagram, the celebrity mom reflected on her studies at law school and how much she enjoys one of her exams during International Women's Month.
"One of my favorite subjects in law school is Gender Sensitivity and Laws on Women and Children's Rights, and I also submitted my reaction paper on the Supreme Court's Legal Feminism in Philippine Gender Jurisprudence today.
"Legal feminism in Philippine jurisprudence reflects the lived realities of Filipinas, our struggles through the years, the voices that were once silenced, and our continuing fight for dignity and equality."
Yasmien then highlighted several Philippine laws that protect women's rights.
She related, "Philippine laws recognize and protect women's rights through measures such as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (RA 9262), the Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710), the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313 or Bawal Bastos Law), the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act (RA 7877), among others. Strengthened by Supreme Court jurisprudence affirming the State's duty is to uphold and protect the fundamental human rights of women."
The actress also wished everyone this Women's Month to remember that true justice isn't only written in laws. But in real-life stories, the courage and firmness of women.
"Women, please do continue to challenge systems. Do not let others dictate who you should be or how you should live. Set your boundaries, know your rights, break the silence, and claim the equality we deserve. "
Yasmien ended her message with an empowering note: "BABAE AKO! Bakit? May problema ba? HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S MONTH! "
Yasmien's message comes amid ongoing discussions about respect and women's rights in the Philippines.
