Yoona and Junho share how similar they are to their characters for 'King the Land.'
Girls Generation member Yoona and Junho of 2PM are currently starring in the popular K-drama King the Land where they play the roles of Gu-won, a son from a chaebol family. His family owns and runs the King Group. Yoona plays Cheon Sarang, a worker from King Hotel with a bright personality despite facing difficulties at work.
In a video posted by Gia Allana, who attended Netflix's Global Influencers event as the Philippine representative, the two lead stars described how each one of them is similar to their roles.
Junho asked, "Yoona, in what way do you think you're similar to Cheon Sarang?"
Yoona answered, "You know, she's fun when she hangs out with her friends, and her chemistry with Gu-won...I don't know how to put it."
"She has a backbone," Junho said, finishing the sentence for her.
Yoona agreed, "Isn't that right? I'm too shy to say it myself."
Junho then described how he thinks Yoona is similar to her role as Cheon Sarang.
"She's very frank. She knows what he likes and what she doesn't. She gives a lot of compliments, and she's very smiley. She has a beautiful smile that makes people feel good. So, really, when I heard Yoona was playing the part of Cheon Sarang I thought she was perfect for the role. She's very fun and bright like her character."
Likewise, Yoona described Junho's character Gu-won and shared how similar he is to the role. "I think there are a lot of similarities between Gu-won and Junho. First of all, Gu-won as a character could be a little cold-hearted. But, when he meets Sarang he becomes very adorable and very warm-hearted. When he's working, he's very professional. He's got charisma, that kind of character, that's why I think Junho has all those charms. He is Gu-won."
Junho revealed he had to work on his acting skills to appear more charming yet cool. "I worked really hard so those charms of Gu-won could be seen in the drama, so compared to other series I've done, this took a little bit more time for me. You'll see those beautiful sides of Sarang and Gu-won in the show. I really look forward to seeing this."
Currently, King the Land has reached the top spot on Netflix for Global Non-English TV Series, according to the Netflix TOP 10 website on July 26.
