Beauty, brains, and business! Ysabel Ortega has the whole package!

Following the success of her first vlog of touring their family's business and La Union home, Kapuso actress Ysabel Ortega is back to share the progress of her poultry farm from her first vlog.

It can be recalled that in December, Ysabel showcased her massive lemon plantation farm and poultry business.

From there, she showed how her family took in hundreds to thousands of chicks to kick-start their poultry farm.

In the second part of the video, the young actress gave an update on how the domestic animals are doing after 28 days and how they're prepping them for distribution to their suppliers.

“'Yung target weight namin para sa kanila nakamit na namin in 28 days, which is good kasi ibig sabihin mas mabilis silang maha-harvest at mas konting magagamit na feed sa kanila,” she said.

“We are contract growers, ibig sabihin, hindi namin ibinibenta isa isa 'yung mga manok.

"Meron kaming integrator or company who we grow chickens for. So they give us the chicks and napupunta rin sa kanila 'yung chicken.”

During the vlog shoot, Ysabel and her team were able to load 6,000 chickens in the rented truck.

The young actress again proved how knowledgeable she is of her craft as she adds bits and pieces of trivia about the animal on the video.

For example, did you know that chickens experience stroke when they're exposed to immediate stress?

“Ang problema pag malalaki 'yung chickens is mabilis silang ma-stress,” she divulged.

“So ngayon papatayin namin yung isang portion sa poultry house para di sila masyadong magulat. Kasi apparently, nakaka-stroke pala 'yun pag nagulat sila.”

In another instance, Ysabel mentioned, “Kung mapapansin n'yo walang masyadong feathers 'yung chicken is because since climate-controlled 'yung system namin hindi na nila kailangan magproduce ng feathers kasi komportable na sila sa temperature.”

By the end of the day, the Kapuso star explained that she and her stepdad, Police Director Greg Pimentel, have been super hands-on with their business to the point that they're also considering creating a breeding farm for their chickens.

She said that they've been visiting other poultry farms in Tarlac to understand the nature of the business and know the differences between breeding and harvesting chickens.

“Pinag-aaralan namin 'yon kasi, we're thinking of venturing into that kind of business someday.

"Hindi lang kami magiging broiler house kundi breeder din.

“Hindi lang kami 'yung magiging business na nag-aasikaso ng livestock sa inyong kinakain sa fast food chains or sa grocery, but there are a lot more talaga.

“I'm so grateful talaga na despite the pandemic nakapag-focus kami sa business namin na 'to and really know the agricultural sector ng country natin.”
