
Kapuso actress Ysabel Ortega could not hide her happiness and excitement as she went to Hollywood, California, to be one of the representatives of the film Firefly, produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs.
Firefly was part of the inagural Manila International Film Festival, Ysabel's first international festival as an actress.
"I'm so excited and I'm so happy kasi the turnout is really good. We're just happy to be able to show this movie to our overseas Pinoy," she said in a video posted on GMA Pictures' Instagram account.
Sparkle GMA Artist Center Vice President Joy Marcelo, who also attended the event, expressed how proud she was for Ysabel, who received positive feedback from moviegoers in the United States.
She said, "We are happy for Ysabel and for the rest of the cast. Ysabel is one of our prime stars in Sparkle, in GMA. Everyone who watched her in this film said na, 'Napakanatural naman nung batang 'yan.' She gave her best, but it was really natural acting."
"Ysabel is very special to GMA, to Sparkle, and I hope everyone will love her here."
Firefly won Best Picture, Best Screenplay for GMA Public Affairs Assistant Vice President Angeli Atienza, and Best Child Performer for Euwenn Mikaell at the 49th Metro Manila Film Festival.
Firefly stars Euwen Mikaell as Tonton, who journeys to find the mythical island of Firefly based on his mother, Elay's (Alessandra De Rossi), bedtime stories.
Also part of the movie were Ysabel, Miguel Tanfelix, Cherry Pie Picache, Epy Quizon, and Yayo Aguila. Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and Max Collins also have very special participations.
