Kapuso actress Ysabel Ortega gave her followers a warning about scammers using her name to solicit donations in the wake of Super Typhoon Carina.

On her Instagram account, Ysabel stressed that she or any member of her family, have not sent any messages asking for money.

"Hi everyone,

"It has come to my attention that someone is using my name to solicit funds from my friends under false pretenses. I would like to announce that these requests are not from me or any member of my family.

"If you receive any messages asking for money, please do not respond or engage.

"Thank you!" her announcement read.

She also shared a screenshot of a conversation on the messaging app WhatsApp which shows the scammer using her photo, pretending to be using a "second number" but refusing a voice call.

Ysabel asked for help in reporting the numbers of the scammers and giving her a heads up.

"Someone is using my name for solicitations. Please know that these requests are not from me.

"If anyone receives messages like these, kindly report the number and let me know right away. Thank you for your help and caution," she added.

There has been an uptick in fraudulent messages pretending to be celebrities or organizations and soliciting donations for those affected by Super Typhoon Carina.

Among those who experienced this are Kapuso stars Kyline Alcantara and Max Collins, talent manager Arnold Vegafria and the Miss World Philippines organization.

Other celebrities like Jolina Magdangal, Aubrey Miles, Mariel Padilla, and Antoinette Taus have also warned the public about people posing as them to ask for donations.
