Zandra Summer has come a long way from being one of the Visayan proteges mentored by singer-actress Jolina Magdangal-Escueta. She is currently part of the new Afternoon Prime series Pyra Babaeng Apoy, where she plays the role of Ena, Pyra's best friend.

Zandra Summer has come a long way from being one of the Visayan proteges mentored by singer-actress Jolina Magdangal-Escueta. She is currently part of the new Afternoon Prime series Pyra Babaeng Apoy, where she plays the role of Ena, Pyra's best friend.

GMANetwork.com sat down with Zandra during the show's story conference, where she talked about sharing scenes with Thea, Jeric, and Elle, as well as her dream roles.

"Ako si Ena, ang best friend ni Pyra. Ako 'yung kengkoy na Inglesera. Pagkatapos siyang awayin si Cindy, ako naman ang mag-cheer up kay Pyra," shares Zandra about her character.

It may be considered as a simple role, but the young Cebuana actress is determined to give her role a different treatment. "Nung nalaman ko na kengkoy, ang saya-saya ko kasi parang noong Protege days pa lang, pinapagawa na nila sa akin 'yung mga ka-kengkoyan so masaya ako but at the same time, of course, ngayong alam ko na 'yung character ko, magre-research ako kasi ayoko naman na 'yung gagawin ko, nagagawa na ng iba. At least may edge din ako, may ibang atake din ako sa pagiging kengkoy."

As for working alongside her co-Proteges, Zandra could not contain her excitement, and was also honest about her fear in working with friends. "Excited ako, masaya kasi paglabas nga ng Protege at nagkikita kami, sasabihin namin 'Kailan kaya tayo magkakasama ulit?' Ngayon, andito na 'yung chance na magkasama kami pero ako natatakot ako sa sarili ko eh. Kasi baka 'yung kadaldalan ko hindi ko na mapigil, daldal lang ako ng daldal, hindi ko na ma-practice 'yung script ko. Challenge din 'yun sa akin na tumahimik ako at mag-study ako ng script ko kaysa na magdaldal."

When asked about her dream role, she didn't have one, but two answers. "Madami, madami. 'Yung dream role ko talaga maging kontrabida. Idol na idol ko si Ms. Cherie Gil, tinatawag ko ngang 'mother' ko 'yun eh. Gusto ko 'yung ganun, pero kung gusto ko talagang ma-challenge, gusto ko 'yung parang psycho ako. 'Yun 'yung role na sana magkakaroon ako."
