Last week may nag-leak na balitang si Rhian Ramos na nga ang magiging leading lady ni Richard Gutierrez sa 'Zorro.' Good news for some, unwelcome for others, pero here at iGMA, we just want to congratulate Rhian! Pero kamusta naman siya after finding out that she'll be reuniting with her first love team partner? Marami-maraming speculations rin ang nag-ikot prior to the announcement of who Zorro's leading lady will be; nagkaroon ng auditions, nagkaroon ng haka-haka; people were even suggesting names na na-link na before to Richard Gutierrez, he who would become Zorro. And one of those names was Rhian Ramos.
"Thank you!" 'yan ang naging reaction ni Rhian when iGMA congratulated her for bagging the role. Contrary to what people thought, Rhian did not have the role in the bag from the get-go. It took a lot of deliberations from the directors, the Program Manager, and the other big bosses of GMA just to decide kung sino ang magiging leading lady. They chose Rhian to be one of the three. And when did she find out she got the role? The night before the trade party where GMA was supposed to announce who the leading ladies in Zorro were. But Rhian is not unaware that her tandem with Richard has a lot of history rooted in controversy. "At the time naman, ang dami na naming nagawa, sunud-sunod pa." Rhian says, defending her detractors. Yes, she's defending them. "At least here, ang haba ng break namin from each other, hindi ko siya naka-trabaho for a long time." And it also helps na Rhian has proven a lot since their last team-up in Lupin. Because contrary to popular belief, Rhian was never a love interest in Codename: Asero, though her character fell in love with the character of Grecko. "Nothing beats your first, right? So we're back. With a vengeance! And we're both excited," sambit pa niya. At talaga namang halatang excited sina Rhian and Richard to be working together again. Pero ang tanong, will they finally end up together? In none of their shows together did the two end up living happily ever after. And to that, Rhian has this to say: "Siyempre kasi, 'yun 'yung factor na kailangan natin i-please both 'yung, either fans ni Camille [Prats] tsaka fans ko, tsaka nung next show, we had to please Ehra [Madrigal]'s and mine and Katrina [Halili]'s. So ngayon na tatlo ulit kami, who knows what's gonna happen? Kasi there have been times where he ends up with no one, there have been times where he ends up with one, or there have been times where someone dies—no, I'm kidding. You never know!" Besides, Rhian says na nothing is set in stone—especially in television shows. "Hindi pa rin namin alam kung ano ang mangyayari. Tsaka usually, binabase namin ang flow ng story sa pagtanggap ng tao sa show. "'Pag pinalabas na 'yung programa, kunwari 'pag napanood na ng mga tao 'yung week one, week two nagco-comment na 'yan sa internet. So pati 'yun, niri-research din namin. Tapos minsan, ibibigay namin 'yung gusto [agad], minsan iwi-withhold namin for a while, basta ganoon. Kasi siyempre importante sa GMA 'yung iniisip ng viewers." And being one of the leading ladies in Zorro, may isang tanong na hindi namin pwedeng palampasin: will Rhian be doing action stunts na rin? After all, most of Zorro's leading ladies are known to be very strong female characters. "Hopefully!" sagot ni Rhian. "Kasi, 'di ba? Dream ko nga mag-action, and if ever, baka ito 'yung pinaka-una ko. So if ever ganoon 'yung mangyari, ipagpa-practice ko na 'yun. Ipaghahanda ko na 'yung fighting skills [ko]. Sa alam ko naka-schedule na ako for horseback riding, pero I'm not sure yet about the fencing. Pero whether or not may fight scenes ako, or fencing scenes, gusto ko pa rin matuto." Ano na kaya ang magiging dynamics ng tandem nina Rhian and Richard? After all, gaya nga ng sinabi ni Rhian, it's been a long time since naging love team partners sila.
