Fans of Herlene Budol are happy to see her doing drama again via 'Binibining Marikit' after her successful debut series 'Magandang Dilag.'

After her successful debut series Magandang Dilag, Herlene Budol has returned to afternoon TV via GMA series Binibining Marikit.

In its pilot episode aired today, February 10, Binibining Marikit introduced Herlene's character named Marikit, a funny but feisty Dumagat Remontado tour guide and vlogger, bringing a mix of good vibes and tears to viewers.

Netizens flocked to Herlene's Facebook page to show support for the actress in time for her new drama series' launch. She and the Binibining Marikit team had a viewing party while on the set.

A commenter said , "[Nakakaiyak]...SO HAPPY NA NAKITA ULI KITA SA TV."

In the story, Marikit, or simply Ikit, lives a simple and happy life with his father, Gani (Cris Villanueva), in the beautiful Daraitan community in Rizal.

Even though her mother left them while she was still young, she never felt incomplete because her father showered her with all the love, support, and attention. They may not be well off, living within their means from their small-scale local tour guide business income, but with her close friends and fellow tourist guides, Gemmalou (Ashley Rivera) and Caloy (Jeff Moses) by her side, life seems perfect for Marikit.

But this suddenly changes when Rica (Almira Mhulach) and her daughter Angela (Thea Tolentino) set foot on Daraitan intending to buy the Dumagats' land for a resort casino Rica is eyeing for her investors.

As expected, they are met with negative reactions by the locals, led by Gani. Unbeknownst to Marikit and the Dumagats, Gani and Rica had a relationship during their college days but things didn't work out because Rica wanted more in life.

To prove that the Dumagats don't need Rica's offer and to boost their local tourism, Marikit spearheaded the preparation for their Ulango Festival, which featured local produce, rituals, and dances. However, all their efforts were wasted when Rica hired a henchman to ruin the festivities by causing a fire in the tech booth area.

Binibining Marikit airs from Monday to Saturday, 2:30 p.m. on GMA and Kapuso Stream.
