During the presscon of the longest- running gag show for its 22nd anniversary, Direk Bert admitted in front of the entertainment press that he felt the pressure to maintain or even exceed the standards of Direk Uro when he headed Bubble Gang.

Direk Bert explained, “They’ve been on for 20 years, when I inherited the job and the legacy of Director Uro dela Cruz. And I’m very proud to have been the one that they chose for that. In the case of Bubble Gang, mas mahirap in the sense that nandun ‘yung constant pressure to keep the standards up to the level that Uro left it at.”

The veteran director also pointed out that the staying power of Bubble Gang for over two decades is not pure luck, but was a result of hard work from all the people behind the comedy program.

“And the additional pressure of seeing if we can improve and do things better. Kasi 22 years hindi tsamba 'yan, ginagawa 'yan. So after 20 years nung pumasok ako, so ‘yun ‘yung mandate ituloy mo ‘yung ginagawa na 'yan at kung may maidadagdag ka, kung may maitutulong ka, eh gawin mo. So mas mahirap pumasok sa ganyang ka-successful na show.”

What’s more, Direk Bert praised the creative team for their passion to put on a great show every Friday night.

“But with the creative team headed by Ms. Bang (Arespacochaga) and Roy (San Luis) and of course Bitoy (Michael V) eh hindi na sikreto kung bakit ganun sila ka-successful. Kasi they really put into work and the fervor is there. The passion na hats off to Bitoy and the rest of the creative teams pati ‘yung naunang cast,” he said.
