Direk Chris Martinez finds ways!
Award-winning screenwriter and director Chris Martinez sees the silver lining of the situation of mounting a sitcom like Daddy's Gurl amid the numerous restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now on its third year, the entertainment press got the chance to chat with the sitcom's director yesterday in an online media conference, wherein he discussed about some of the challenges shooting a show during these trying times.
According to Direk Chris, he doesn't shy away from the difficulties of doing a show amid the pandemic.
He said, “Ako kasi 'yung tipo ng tao na 'pag nilagyan mo ako ng mga parameters mas lalo ako nacha-challenge, e. Pag binigyan mo ako ng mga balakid, parang gusto ko buwagin parang ganun.”
Chris then continued, “Iniisipan ko talaga ng paraan: paano, paano, paano. Kagaya nung talagang bawal lumabas lahat ng tao nagawan namin ng paraan na gumawa kami ng mga kuwento na lahat kami naka-Zoom. Tapos 'yung pangalawang beses din na bawal lumabas na gawan din namin ng paraan.”
“Tapos ngayon naman year 3, gagawan natin ng paraan na kahit si Bossing hindi lalabas ng bahay, gagawan natin ng paraan na nandoon siya sa set,” he added.
Direk Chris also lauded the creative and production team of Daddy's Gurl for their exceptional performance to showcase a quality show week after week.
“I find ways you know to work around the challenges and of course hindi lang naman ako ito, of course kasama ko 'yung mga producers and of course 'yung mga writers ko na talagang minsan nacha-challenge na rin sila sa mga pinapagawa ko sa kanila. Pero nade-deliver naman nila.”
Starting this Saturday night (October 23), expect more fun and hilarious moments on Daddy's Gurl, especially as they introduce four new members who will be joining them, namely: Prince Clemente, Prince Carlos, Jem Manicad, and Carlo San Juan!
